Brière Regional Nature Park
Looking for a nature walk during your stay in the Pays de Retz? Take a trip to the Brière countryside. Your Flower Camping la Guichardière is just 25 kilometers from the Brière Park.
Close to Saint-Nazaire, you can discover France’s second largest marshland during your vacation! This park offers guests natural landscapes ideal for relaxation and contemplation. Just a stone’s throw from the beaches of Pornichet and La Baule Escoublac, in the heart of the Guérande peninsula in Loire Atlantique on the edge of Brittany, this park extends over 55,000 hectares and 20 communes.
How to visit the park
The brière can be visited by bike, on foot, by canoe, by horse-drawn carriage or by barge (a small flat-bottomed boat that can be maneuvered either by pole or electric motor). It’s a great opportunity to soak up the scent of the flowers you’ll come across along the way, in a variety of colors. While you’re at it, keep your eyes peeled for a chance to get to know all the animals: frogs, pike, carp, ermines, hares and weasels! But also a large number of bird species: herons, marsh harriers, teal and many more…
As far as prices are concerned, you can choose between a guided tour with commentary, or a self-guided tour of unlimited duration (you can even picnic on your own boat).

A short visit to the village of Kerhinet
In the heart of the park, surrounded by nature, you’ll find the mysterious, authentic village of Kerhinet. Please note that it’s only accessible on foot, and free all year round. This charming little hamlet will take you back to the early 20th century. During your walk, don’t hesitate to stop off at the Maison du Parc museum to learn more about the history of the park and the village.
Looking for some height?
You can enjoy a breathtaking 360° view from the church tower of Saint Lyphard, 35 meters high. If you’re feeling brave, you’ll have to climb 135 steps to get the best view of the whole region. From the top, you can see the Saint-Nazaire bridge in the distance, the Guérande collegiate church, the Brière marshes (on the left) and, behind us, the Férel water tower. You can also see the marshes in all their splendor by climbing up to the Rozé lookout in Saint-Malo-de-Guersac.
