The most beautiful beaches in and around Pornic
The most beautiful beaches in Pornic
If you’re looking for a beach close to your vacation rental, we have several locations to suggest (map available at reception), so it’s up to you to make your choice!
Please note that dogs are forbidden on all beaches during the season from June 15 to September 15 (except on the Lancastria beach at Dune du Collet – in Moutiers en Retz). They are not necessarily equipped for people with reduced mobility. And don’t forget that not all our beaches have lifeguards!

Joalland Beach
The nearest swimming beach to your Flower Camping la Guichardière, 500m away. Its wide strip of fine sand is ideal for sunbathing, playing beach volleyball or building sandcastles with the kids.
Looking for a gourmet break? Two restaurants/cafés are at your disposal: Rayon de Soleil and Café-Boutique la Tara will be able to satisfy even the hungriest of appetites! Note that both offer a breathtaking view of the estuary, the Saint-Nazaire bridge and the little port of La Gravette! If your taste buds are in the mood for a gastronomic voyage, then book a table at the hotel restaurant Anne de Bretagne… you’ll be sure to have unforgettable memories!
You can keep a souvenir of Joalland beach by taking a photo in front of the anchor located near the Tara parking lot in memory of the fishermen!
A seaside hike? Join the customs trail that stretches along 45km of coastline.
Mouton Beach
If you’re a fan of fishing on foot, don’t hesitate to go there at low tide and you’ll find oysters, periwinkles, shrimps and shellfish of all kinds, … but pay close attention to the regulations regarding the size and quantity you can catch! A fishing ruler is available at your campsite reception to help you keep to the rules! Nestling between Port Giraud and Port de la Gravette, you’ll find a wild and peaceful setting in which to relax and enjoy the pleasures of the foreshore.
You’ll be able to enjoy an unspoilt natural environment. Away from the big tourist beaches, you’ll enjoy the peace and quiet without being too far from the campsite, which is just 400m away. Please note that swimming is unsupervised, so keep an eye on your children! At the end of the day, you can enjoy a sublime sunset with friends and family alike. You can explore the marine life of the foreshore in the pockets of water left on the rocks.
If you’re in the mood for a little stroll, don’t hesitate to take the Cormier walking trail to explore the small coves (Plage de la Govogne) up to the large Plage du Cormier, where you’ll come across several fisheries.
Cormier Beach
A long, sandy beach with lifeguard surveillance in summer, just 10 minutes by bike from Flower Camping La Guichardière! Don’t hesitate to take a stroll along this family-friendly beach, with its gentle slope and unobstructed view. In summer, a diving board is installed for your children’s/teens’ enjoyment.
Here are 3 ideas for possible activities:
– Swimming or water sports: if you’re a water sports enthusiast, you can go sailing, kitesurfing or paddleboarding. Your little ones can enjoy the water in complete safety.
– fishing on foot: at low tide, you can enjoy the fresh sea air. With the right tools, with your family or on your own, go shell hunting and learn about the local flora and fauna at the same time. On this beach, you’ll find razor clams, cockles and shrimps.
– a hike: if you want to combine walking and drawing, it’s possible! Take a seat at the drawing table and take advantage of the open air and the landscape in front of you to fill in your travel diary!
If you have reduced mobility, swimming is possible! The beach provides a tiralo for you to enjoy a safe swim.
How about some ice cream? If you still have a little courage left after an afternoon in the sun, you can enjoy an ice cream with your children at La Fraiseraie in Tharon, just a few minutes from Le Cormier beach. It’s a must!
Port Giraud Beach
You don’t necessarily have to go out and bask in the sun, but this sandbar can be the perfect place to take a stroll and discover the coast before your very eyes, at your own pace. You’ll have a view of Saint-Nazaire and its shipyards, as well as Tharon and Saint-Brévin. If you like mussels, this is the place for you!
Don’t worry about the lack of space nearby if you’re loaded down with all your gear (buoys, beach bag, cooler…), free parking is available all year round. It’s a 7-minute bike ride from the campsite.
Govogne Beach
This beach is located between Plage du Cormier and Port Giraud, and its charm lies in the fisheries. For an experience you’ll remember, you can rent a fishing boat and try your hand at fishing from one. If you’d like to try your hand at fishing, find out more about availability and rental on the following website: pecherie la govogne or contact La Plaine sur Mer town hall directly.
Looking for a quiet spot?
If you’re looking for a small rocky cove, this is a haven of peace overlooking the Loire estuary. This unspoilt little corner of paradise is not far from Plage de Mouton. To get there, you need to take the coastal path (circuit du Cormier), as it’s hidden behind the houses along the coast, invisible from the road!
A little further on…
On the Préfailles side, you’ll find a number of beaches and coves with magnificent views over the island of Noirmoutier. Don’t forget to visit Pointe Saint-Gildas for a breath of sea air and a visit to the semaphore. In Pornic, you’ll find a number of lovely beaches, including Plage des Sablons (Sainte-Marie sur Mer), Plage de Portmain, Plage du Porteau, Plage de la Noeveillard (not far from Pornic castle), Plage de la Source (one of the town’s most charming, according to travelers) and Plage de la Birochère. The Fontaine aux Bretons beach is renowned for its tranquility, with small coves between fisheries and cliffs. On tripadvisor you’ll find an overview of the most beautiful viewpoints and other information.
Do you dare take the plunge?
Whether you’re coming with friends or family, would you like to spend some time on the water and discover the coast from a completely different point of view? Don’t hesitate to contact Yakavélo, who offer kayaks and paddles for hire from Port de la Gravette. Don’t hesitate to visit the reception of your Flower Camping a Guichardière, which has flyers about Yakavélo.
After the effort… the comfort!
After this outing, don’t hesitate to come and relax in the water park at your Flower Camping La Guichardière! Take advantage of the wellness area (bubbles, massage jets).
It’s always nice to hear from you!
